Welcome to Acorn's Todos ("we," "our," or "the App"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, process, and protect your information when you use our iOS application, and outlines the controls you have over your data.

1. Information We Collect & Process

1.1 Voice & Text Input Processing

When you create or update a checklist using voice or text input:

• Speech Recognition: Your spoken voice is transcribed into text using Apple's native Speech Recognition framework (`SFSpeechRecognizer`). We never record, store, or transmit raw audio files to our servers.
• Ephemeral AI Parsing: When you confirm and submit a transcript (or typed note), the text, active checklist titles (to determine whether to create a new list or append items), your device's current date/timezone context, and optional User Facts (only if enabled by you) are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS to our serverless backend (Firebase Cloud Functions) and processed via OpenRouter using Google Gemini.
• Stateless Execution: Our backend processes your request in real time solely to return structured checklist items and due dates to your device. Neither your transcripts nor your generated checklist items are saved to any external database by us after the request completes.
• No AI Training or Advertising: Your inputs are used strictly to fulfill your on-demand checklist requests and are never used for third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or marketing profiles.

1.2 Optional "User Facts" (AI Personalization Memory)

Acorn's Todos offers an optional feature called User Facts that allows the App to remember helpful personal preferences across sessions (for example, scheduling habits, preferred locations, or household routines) to tailor future checklists:

• 100% Opt-In & Toggleable: During initial setup—and at any time within the App's User Facts settings—you can choose whether User Facts are enabled or disabled.
• When Enabled: Learned preferences are stored locally on your device and included with your checklist requests to provide personalized suggestions. You can view, edit, or delete individual facts at any time.
• When Disabled (Opted Out): No personal preferences are sent to the AI, no new facts are learned or extracted from your transcripts, and all AI checklist parsing operates in a strictly stateless, zero-memory mode.

1.3 Local On-Device Storage

All of your checklists, checklist items, due dates, completion statuses, and optional User Facts are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's on-device SwiftData and UserDefaults storage. Deleting the App permanently removes this local data from your device.

1.4 Device Permissions

Depending on the features you choose to use, the App requests the following iOS system permissions:

• Microphone & Speech Recognition: Used only while you actively record a voice note to transcribe your speech into text.
• Notifications: Used solely to schedule and deliver local on-device reminders for checklist items with due dates or times.
• Location (Optional, if enabled): If granted, coarse (city-level) location context may be used locally or with your opt-in preferences to make checklist suggestions relevant to your area. Precise GPS tracking is never stored or logged on our servers.

You may grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's iOS Settings.

1.5 Subscription & Payment Information

When you subscribe to Acorn's Todos Pro or use a free trial:

• Apple Handles All Payments: All billing and payment processing are handled directly by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit 2). We never see, collect, or store your name, Apple ID, email address, billing address, or credit card details.
• Cryptographic Receipt Verification: When you make an AI checklist request, your device sends an Apple-signed cryptographic transaction token (JWS) and anonymous transaction identifier to our backend solely to verify that your subscription or trial is active and to enforce fair-use rate limits.

2. Data Sharing & Third-Party Service Providers

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Data is shared only with the essential infrastructure providers required to operate the App:

• Apple Inc.: Provides on-device speech recognition, local notifications, and App Store subscription management.
• Google Cloud / Firebase Functions: Hosts our stateless serverless API endpoint that verifies subscription receipts and routes checklist parsing requests.
• OpenRouter & Google Gemini: Processes submitted text transcripts ephemerally to convert natural language into structured checklist items.

3. Data Retention & Your Rights

• On-Device Control: Because your checklists and optional User Facts live locally on your device, you have direct control to view, modify, or delete them at any time within the App.
• Opting Out of Personalization: Turning off the User Facts toggle in the App immediately stops the collection and use of saved personal preferences.
• Complete Deletion: Uninstalling Acorn's Todos from your device immediately deletes all local SwiftData checklists, User Facts, and app settings.

4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Checklists, task breakdowns, time estimates, prioritizations, and suggested steps generated by Acorn's Todos are produced using automated artificial intelligence models. While designed to assist with organization and productivity, AI-generated outputs may occasionally contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. All generated content is provided for general informational and organizational purposes only, and is not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, financial, or safety advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy, appropriateness, and safety of any generated tasks, schedules, or instructions before acting upon them.

5. Children's Privacy

Acorn's Todos does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can assist you.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the App or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
